Text on back of card: View from Þingvellir National Park. On the World Heritage Site List, the area is important historically as the assembly site of the original parliament (Almannagjá), the “Alþingi”, beginning in the year 930 and convening in 1798. Geologically, the area displays abundent evidence of continental drift between the Eurasian and North American plates. This drifting has caused the faults, fissures and rifts in the valley floor.
